Earth to Rice: You’ve Just Been Merkelized

My, how the tables do turn.

Turn, tables, turn. No—seriously. This is an important moment in…um…history. (Pay no attention to the Vader suit. It’s a Friday thing.)

The BBC reports that German Bundeskanzler Dr. Angela Merkel has just “trumped” US Secretary of State Condolleezza Rice as the World’s Most Powerful Woman, according to Forbes Magazine. Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Yi comes in a distant third, with Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom trailing in dismal but dignified 46th place. This is certainly an improvement over last year’s poor performance, in which Her Majesty failed to excel beyond 75th. Still, Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett landed Britain decisively within the top 30.

All eyes are now fixed on PepsiCo Chief Executive-Designate Indra Nooyi, who can be counted on to make a dash from 4th into first in next year’s runnings. Will she succeed? Talking heads want to know. In other news, the cluster bomb cleanup in southern Lebanon continues while 250,000 refugees wait. Look over there!

You gotta admit, this story is begging for it.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Be safe!

Is she is so powerful, why does nothing happen when she flits in on her big bird?

That’s probably what many Palestinians and Lebanese would love to know. If you have a chance, please see my piece on the American Dream. I was only too glad to highlight your own efforts therein as a positive example for business and political leaders everywhere.
